RE: What R the $$$ and Medical advantages of FL residency

Keep in mind that fla , under medicare Part b and d, are covered by Humana (You have to understand that states now control Medicare, with reimbursement from the SS ). Rates are based on assets :? I have been on the original Medicare Plan for 5 years in FL. and never ever heard about any Humana or that the state has control of medicare. The state may control Medicade, but I don't have or use that. Medicare takes $96.40 out every month from my SS money for Part A & B. I do think Medicare pays some money to my supplement Insurance for part of my C or D. But how much only they know. My assets have nothing to do with what they take out. They do raise that amount every year for A & B to get back some of the COL raise they give me. :M My supplement Insurance pays for balance % of B bills & the B deductible & D bills over co-payment cost. I pay my old company Insurance Co. for that policy out of my pocket. With the original Medicare Plan I can go to www.MyMedicare.gov and see all my bills on line and what was paid or denied. If you travel to other states in your RV then if you have the Medicare Advantage Plan(like an HMO or PPO) may cause problems if you need to see a plan Dr. when in another state.

RE: Moderate places SW Florida?

I would say anything SW of Tampa may be getting out of the "moderately priced" range. You have to pay more for the warmer weather south. The Keys are in SW Florida.

RE: VuQube satellite TV

The Winegard Travler can get the new DirecTV HD KA satellites. The VuQube can't. It would be a lot of work for someone to steal the Travler. Not much work to get the VuQube. But it may be covered with your homeowners insurance.

RE: Power Gear hydraulic level --- intermittent alarm beep.

Check the fluid level every month. Fill the reservoir with the jacks in the fully retracted position. On 1998 - PRESENT model year coaches, the fluid should be within 1/4 inch of the fill port lip and checked only with all jacks retracted. 1) Fill pump to rim of fill port hole until just before oil starts to dribble out. 2) Cycle front legs to fully extended position, then retract fully. 3) Cycle rear legs to fully extended position, then retract fully. 4) Refill reservoir per step 1. 5) Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 in order; a minimum of 3 times. 6) Extend front and rear legs. 7) Trip emergency brake, verify system alarms properly, alarm ceases when brake is reset and/or alarm ceases when legs are retracted. 8) Extend front and rear legs. 9) Remove transmission from “park” (if applicable), verify system alarms properly, alarm ceases when transmission is reset to “park”, verify system alarms when transmission is taken out of neutral, verify system resets when transmission is reset to neutral, and verify alarm ceases when legs have fully retracted. 10) If alarm does not cease during steps 7 or 9, when legs are fully retracted, check liquid level and fill per step 1, if necessary. 11) Prior to road test, level coach and repeat steps 7-9. 12) After road test, level coach and repeat steps 7-9. Note: All jacks should be cycled at least 5 times during this procedure.

RE: Fleetwood Discovery 40G

I have had no problems with my Fleetwood for the 6 years I have owned it. The previous owner of 3 years must have took care of the bugs if they had any. The Discovery does have a good owners club with help on any problems. www.discoveryowners.com

RE: 7 thousand dollar brake repair. Be careful when you buy.

FL. State Recommends As-Is Or Warranty All dealers are required by Federal law to post a "buyers guide" in the window of each vehicle offered for sale. The buyers guide notifies the buyer that there is a warranty or that the vehicle is being sold "AS-IS" with no warranty of any kind. In the case of an "AS-IS" sale, once you drive the vehicle from the dealership, it belongs to you, despite any problems the vehicle may have. If the vehicle breaks down after only a few minutes of leaving the dealership, the repairs are YOUR responsibility. There is no Lemon Law for used cars in Florida. After you've checked out the car thoroughly and are seriously considering buying it, you should take it to a trusted mechanic or auto diagnostic service (again, check the Better Business Bureau) before you make a final decision. The mechanical check is not an "iron-clad" guarantee, just one more way of protecting you and your loved ones. This may be the most important step in the used-car buying process. Don't skip it! This is also very important when buying from a private party. If the dealer or owner refuses to let you take the car to a mechanic, Do Not Buy The Vehicle! You may have to pay $50 or so for this service, but it provides the best protection available, although it does not guarantee the car against major defects. http://www.flhsmv.gov/dmv/usedcar.html

RE: Has anyone used Rid-X in black tank?

I use it at my winter spot that uses a septic system. I dump every 12 days through a 1" hose with no problem. Rid X web site FAQ Q: How soon does RID-X® begin work? A: The enzymes in RID-X® begin working as soon as they come in contact with water. The bacteria take 2-4 hours to germinate and then begin to break down solid waste. If the temperature and conditions are favorable, then the bacteria will multiply to the maximum level that the environment will allow in about 2-4 days. Since septic systems vary, the speed at which the bacteria and enzymes break down waste varies.

RE: Alternator replacement

I don't know how your Journey is built. It is a easy change out on my Discovery. The drivers side rear compartment opens up to the engine and by taking the air filter out you are looking right at the alternator. The last one I got a new 160 AMP at a alternator rebuild shop. And then had them rebuild the old one for a spare to carry with me.

RE: Did Fay damage your RV?

Lake Okeechobee water level as of Aug 24, 2008 13.11 ft. About 2 ft. below historical average for this time of year. Before Fay it was 3' low for average. Looks like a 1' gain so far from Fay.

RE: API Oil Classifications

It is a air cooled engine. So I have always used 15-40W synthetic made for a air cooled Motorcycle engine. Also I have never had the Onan in any temperature below the 40's.

RE: Anyone want 10 million bucks free. Its yours

There was a George Brumley, Jr. he was the Chairman of Pediatrics and Associate Dean at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He received an A.B. from Duke University in 1956. Brumley joined the faculty at Emory in 1981 as the Frances Winship Walter Professor and Chairman of Pediatrics. He died with his wife and three children in a plane crash in Kenya in 2003. Google search. http://www.spock.com/George-Brumley,-Jr. That Chairman job sure paid a lot of money to save $386,363 every year for 22 years.

RE: Air compressor replacement.

Looks like he has a 99 from his past post. If the filters have been changed every 36 months like Freightliner recommends then his would be due or past due for the 3rd change. And he should check the tanks for water & oil also, if not done yet.

RE: Montreal to Florida Keys

because our daughter will be much more comfortable in an RV than in our car... :h At two years old she should be in a belted down car seat. It probably would be the same seat used in the car as used in the RV. You will be hard pressed to find any dry camping once you get into the Keys. If you want a state park campsite in the Keys. Make your reservations now. FL. State Park Campgrounds

RE: Wall Drug, South Dakota, I-90

I used to live a short block from the Corn Palace. There's not much to see inside, except to pick up some information. The art work is all on the outside, and you can drive (or walk) by for free. I used to photograph high school basketball games there. I don't know, do they charge admittance for tourists? No charge for going inside last time I was there 5 years ago. There was a lot of corn art hanging on the inside.

RE: weather worries during storage

Hurricane season is officially from 1 June to 30 November. NOAA’s 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season Outlook update indicates an 85% probability of an above-normal hurricane season, a 10% chance of a near-normal season, and a 5% chance of a below-normal season. Expect considerable activity during the remainder of the 2008 season, with an additional 9-12 named storms, 5-8 hurricanes and 2-5 major hurricanes likely during the remainder of the season (August 27th through November 30th). So how lucky are you?
